Studies have shown that communication is the single most critical skill used by leaders. It is estimated that 80% of leader-subordinate interaction is spent communicating. Organizational leaders recognize the importance of communication yet it remains a major problem. |
One major reason for this is that many leaders feel that they are very effective communicators and that the weakness is with the other party. So while most leaders see the need to improve communication, most don't see the need to improve their own.
In this workshop, we'll introduce the eight attributes of supportive communication. Two interpersonal leadership communication approaches, coaching and counseling, will be thoroughly discussed and improvement opportunities will be explored. Leaders are taught to recognize the difference between situations that require informing, directing or advising. Methods to ensure two-way communication and prevent communication failures are uncovered. Messages sent by leaders with their facial expressions, body language and actions are examined as a possible source of miscommunication. Motivational techniques are introduced and developed as the primary goal of all communication.
